2008 Events at Denver Golf Club

We have listed on these page some of the events that we have held in 2008, so that you can get an idea of the range of events that we put on at Denver.

"Hawthorn Open" Competition - 2008

This is a knock-out competition played during 2008 for a new trophy. All players play from scratch (i.e. no handicap) in matchplay format. The first round matches will need to be played by 20th January 2008, so please register your name and contact details with us at Reception before 5th January 2008.

It is planned that the second round matches should be completed by 3rd February 2008, so that there will be two weeks available in which to play each round.  As the competition is a knock-out, we will not know when the final round will be, as that is dependent on the number of competitors who start.

Friday 26th September 2008

Click to go to JDRF's Web site

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the only charitable organisation in the world with the primary objective of finding the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications. It was founded by a small group of parents of children with type 1 diabetes who recognised that insulin injections are not the cure for this life threatening and lifelong condition.

JDRF recognises the challenges of living with type 1 diabetes and advocates to ensure that the condition is fully understood. It provides information for families affected by the condition and encourages them to become directly involved in supporting research for the cure. Denver Golf Club is therefore proud to be supporting JDRF's fund-raising efforts through this Charity Golf Day.

The programme for the day will be:

1.00 pm      Arrival and Registration
from 1.00 pm      Buffet lunch for participants
~2.00 pm      18-hole golf fourball better ball competition
     with Nearest the Pin competitions
from 2.00 pm      Putting competition
~5.30 pm      Prize-giving and raffle
followed by      Barbeque-style supper for participants

During the day, there will be an opportunity to run stalls along the drive (or inside if the weather is not suitable). A small cost is requested (100% to JDRF) - please provide your own stall and telephone 01366 38 5716 to book a place.

JDRF volunteers and staff have been responsible for raising over £600 million to support type 1 diabetes research since the charity’s inception. JDRF raises money to drive world-class research to prevent, treat and cure type 1 diabetes and its serious and debilitating complications. For 30 years it has been fundamentally involved in the delivery of advances in this field; seeking out, assessing and monitoring the best science to drive the breakthroughs that improve management of type 1 diabetes and will ultimately cure the condition.

For further information about JDRF and type 1 diabetes, please go to http://www.jdrf.org.uk.

Click to go to JDRF's Web site

JDRF is an independent charity with its own Board of Directors and registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales, number 295716.
